The music world was saddened to hear the news over Christmas that Faithless legend Maxi Jazz had passed away in his sleep overnight on December 23rd at the age of 65. With the band's track Insomnia released in 1995 and continues to be remixed to this day, clubbers young and old will feel the loss but those legendary lyrics and Maxi's unique voice will live on. As a tribute to Maxi, Hot House Hours 141 closes out with this classic track, which has to be one of the best songs of all time in any electronic music genre.
Beatport recently announced its biggest sellers charts for 2022. The biggest selling track of the year - surprisingly, given the competition - was Aussie producer FISHER's remix of Bob Sinclar's World Hold On. The biggest selling artist was Purple Disco Machine - again a surprise as his highest position in the top 100 was a remix of Lizzo's About Damn Time coming in at number 39. The biggest selling label of the year was Defected, although arguably Toolroom was more consistent with the number and quality of tracks released. Episode 141 of Hot House Hours features 13 of the biggest sellers which is now available on the usual podcast platforms and on radio stations around the world.
Finally, 2022 is nearly over and to celebrate the amazing music released over the past 12 months, a special 4 hour mix will be released for Hot House Hours episode 142 (only a one hour version will be made available for radio, unless downloaded from the restricted access page). The podcast will be released a little earlier than usual in time for NYE celebrations but you can hear the mix before anyone else HERE.
Thank you for your support this year and wishing you a successful 2023!
